Meditations I – Sunset

We’re all shiny little goldfish ???
How easy it is to lose sight of what really matters.
Going after survival and pleasure. One quick fix against another. Over-saturating our attention with endless stimuli.
We are digressing more and more into a virtual reality, swimming in the fish tank of our entertaining – in the best of cases- thoughts and desires.
Holding onto an illusion of safety and control. Giving authority over our lives to the school, the system, the state, science, religion, politics…
The next exam, the next election, the next discovery, the next ritualistic bandaid…
Until the fish tank becomes a swamp. And we don’t even notice the stink. We believe it’s natural. As long as it keeps us safely in the fish tank.
Shiny little goldfish waiting for their food delivery. A decorative attraction. ?
We are even proud of our intellectual swamp. It delivers so many tales of glory, destiny, triumph and deceit. An adventurous fish tank life…?
Locked in doing mode. Forgetting being. Naturally… Outside the fish tank.
But Nature rules supreme. Above and beyond any illusion of safety and control. No fish tank will survive it’s swiping force. In time it will dissolve into the sea of being.
Just a pause is enough. And it will crack the tank open flooding it with fresh water. ?
Pausing and Nature.
Pausing in Nature.
That’s all it takes to remember. To drop into being.
Pausing in Nature, as much and as often is necessary. Until the fish tank is completely dissolved. And you’re left swimming free into being.
Life is so worth it. If only for these sunsets. ?
